The opening was commissioned by Dr. Kenyi Spencer, County Commissioner – Kajo Keji County, at a colourful ceremony in the town. Dr. Kenyi, who is also a Director of Equity Bank South Sudan, said that the opening of the branch would usher in economic freedom, adding that the Bank’s achievements in East Africa were expected to be replicated in Kajo Keji.
The launch coincided with the launch of Kajo Keji County Development Strategic Plan authored by Dr. Kenyi and Prof. Taban Lolyong, the acclaimed author who penned the book Song of Lawino.
As the only bank in the area, Equity’s entry is projected to boost trade and ease financial access especially through salary remittances for civil servants.
Local leaders hailed the opening of the branch, saying that it would cater for the populace who have been locked out of the financial system for years.
